This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, faculty position.

Minimum two (2) years of experience in teaching at the high school level or above is required; Minimum two (2) years of experience teaching and/or training adult learners is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication is required.
Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time.
Must be capable of walking, standing, bending for 40 % or more of time.

Job Concepts This position provides instruction in mathematics to adult learners age 18 and older who seek a Louisiana high school equivalency diploma or want to strengthen basic skills prior to/concurrent with enrollment in post-secondary education.
Work location is at Bossier Parish Community College Main Campus and any off-campus/community partner locations as assigned.
Examples of Work Develops, plans, and delivers effective high school equivalency preparation lessons in mathematics as needed to prepare adult students to pass the state-approved high school equivalency test.
Provides a variety of classroom experiences including small group instruction, teacher-directed instruction, self-paced instruction, individual or small-group tutoring, and/or computer-assisted instruction to meet the needs of the learner toward achieving individual academic goals.
Provides a variety of classroom instruction and tutoring opportunities including (but not limited to) mornings, afternoons, and evenings according to program needs and/or as assigned by supervisor.
Tracks, documents, and maintains records related to student progress including (but not limited to): attendance, pre- and post-assessment (TABE) results, eligibility for membership in the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS) and other metrics of progress toward student academic goals.
Tracks and documents a student’s eligibility to participate in upcoming graduation ceremonies.
Submits timely and accurate documentation related to a student’s eligibility to participate in upcoming graduation ceremonies to the appropriate designates.
Submits timely and accurate National Reporting System (NRS) records to the appropriate designates.
Oversees and assists with compliance of grant requirements in areas of professional development, student attendance, student retention, documentation, and assessment.
Maintains a high level of competence and expertise in the area of Adult Education Manages and oversees program responsibilities and enhances program organization and student outcomes.
Manages and administers regularly scheduled program enrollment opportunities that are both in compliance with grant/NRS requirements and as determined by the needs of the student populations and/or as assigned by supervisor.
Attends and participates in regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
Plans and conducts periodic formal and informal evaluations to assess the need for positive, student-centric changes in the various strategies associated with College Transition Programs Collaborates with all College Transition Programs’ staff and instructors to further develop and incorporate lessons using a contextualized curriculum framework for adult learners.
Evaluates student progress on a regular basis using both formative and summative assessments.
Regularly conducts individual advising appointments with students and makes thoughtful and appropriate referrals in the interest of serving individual student academic goals.
Provides leadership and oversight in the cultivation and management of partnerships with external community service providers and stakeholders in order to foster an increase in student access and success toward achieving individual student academic goals.
Plans and develops special projects as assigned by supervisor.
