Position Details:
The Production Lead is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the execution of the daily production plan, ensuring compliance with company policies for safety and quality, while providing a high level of customer service.
The Production Lead ensures priorities and production goals are met by coaching and motivating team members and removing barriers to performance.
The leader champions continuous improvement to optimize efficiency and capacity in assigned cell(s).
As a member of the operational leadership team, the Production Lead is focused on employee retention, developing a technically qualified workforce, reducing operating costs and maximizing profitable growth for the facility.
Production Lead / Operations Lead Responsibilities:
Build strong and meaningful relationships with all direct reports, along with other shop employees
Engage and empower team members in a positive manner to achieve team-oriented environment
Communicate to all team members clear expectations to plan
Lead daily manufacturing activities to achieve key performance indicators.
Ensure compliance with all Company policies and best practices
Responsible for managing resources within cell(s) to achieve cost, quality, delivery and safety objectives
Ensure team members receive training on the technical aspects of manufacturing processes, CI methodologies, tools, and Standard Operating Procedures.
Prioritize cross training of employees to allow for flexing of the workforce to ensure deadlines and objectives are met
Investigate root causes, communicate findings and initiate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
Lead and facilitate CI projects and ensure sustainment through coaching and regular audits
Works closely with Operational Leadership team to ensure accurate and timely communication as well as effective planning to optimize efficiency and timely delivery of quality products
Maintain current working knowledge of plant equipment, processes, standards and quality criteria.
Production Lead / Operations Lead Requirements:
High School education and/or some secondary education (Preferred);
Previous experience as a Group/Team lead (Preferred)
Have basic computer skills- Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
Self-Starter – minimal supervision required
High energy with strong sense of urgency
Ability to earn respect and trust from employees
Good time management, prioritization abilities, and project management skills
Ability & desire to support a continuous improvement culture
Strong communication and listening skills.
Effective communicating 1:1 and in small groups
Ability to maintain a respectful and safe work environment
Good problem-solving skills with focus on continuous improvement techniques
Goal/Results oriented – ability to set high goals and achieve results
Effectively supports change
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and product
Practical knowledge of lean/continuous improvement tools and strategies
Ability to work all shifts as needed
