We are seeking Resident Marine Field Service Technicians to perform troubleshooting/diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance of Caterpillar marine propulsion and generator engines on cargo vessels stationed at a dedicated marine customer site in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
This assignment involves maintaining residency at the customer facility during a rotational shift that will range from 14 to 21 consecutive days at a time.
This position will require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule and for emergency calls.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Disassemble, adjust, install components and parts, and perform preventive maintenance on Caterpillar marine propulsion and generator engines and related electrical systems in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
Research and determine re-usability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.
Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.
Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner.
Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.
Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training and certifications through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred.
Minimum 4 to 6 years previous hands-on work experience as a diesel technician repairing Caterpillar or competitor diesel and spark ignited engines, and diesel/electric systems related components
Related technician experience in a field service setting preferred.
Dedicated experience troubleshooting and performing maintenance on CAT engine models including the C9, C280, 3400, 3600 series.
Ability to read and comprehend moderately difficult computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and other related publications.
Solid mechanical systems knowledge of diesel engines/engine failures and electrical and hydraulic systems.
Proficient in the use of mechanical test equipment including CAT ET.
Ability to safely use equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, harnesses, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 12 and 15 hours in hot and confined spaces.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
Good computer skills using related information system applications (ex: SIS, DBS).
Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations
Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced field service environment
Other Job Requirements:
Possess a complete set of basic mechanic hand tools including drives, sockets, and wrenches.
Have and maintain a current driver's license and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company’s motor vehicle policy standards.
